Third computer training for organizations from Central Asia

The third course  was held from August 29 to 9 September. Six members from Central Asia were representatives of: newspaper “Turkiston” from Tashkent (Uzbekistan), NGO “Elsen” from Kant (Kyrgyzstan), Republican Network of Independent Monitors and Non-governmental Foundation “Alliance of Regional Mass Media” from Almaty (Kazakhstan), and Helvetas Swiss Association for International Cooperation Agricultural Vocational Education Project from Naryn (Kyrgyzstan).

Besides the computer training the participants had the meetings and lectures in “Itaka” Foundation with Ms. Krystyna Napiórkowska – President, “La Strada” Foundation with  Ms. Stana Buchowska – Program Coordinator, Stefan Batory Foundation with Ms. Grażyna Kopińska – Director of  “Against corruption” Program and Promotion Bureau  of  Warsaw University  with  Ms. Marta Piasecka. Also members visited daily newspaper “Rzeczpospolita” and weekly magazine “Wprost”.

During the weekends the volunteers who cooperate with our Foundation took care the trainees. They had a chance to sightsee Warsaw and Cracow.

Three of organizations received computer equipment.

“Fostering Independent Publishing in Central Asia 2nd” Program is financed by National Endowment for Democracy (USA).

Developing Independent Media Skills in Eurasia
The fourteenth edition of the "Independent media" program is planned for this year. Nearly 26 journalists from Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine will be invited to Poland. During study visits, they will have an opportunity to visit the editorial offices of newspapers and magazines, radio and TV stations, internet portals and information agencies. They will acquaint themselves with the work and experiences of their Polish colleagues. The study visits will be tailored to the professions and specializations of the guests.
