"Local Partnership. Presentation of Experiences" Program (2003)

The program "Local Partnership. Presentation of Experiences" was conducted in 2003 in cooperation with the Kaliningrad-based "DOM" Foundation. The goal of the program was to present Polish experiences with respect to cooperation among local governments, media and non-governmental organizations to program participants from the Kaliningrad District in Russia.

The program involved the organization of 5 internships in which 21 participants took part, representing local government, non-governmental organizations and local media from four regions of the Kaliningrad District (Chernyakhovsk, Baltiysk, Bagrationovsk and Kaliningrad). During weeklong visits to Poland, the course participants were provided the opportunity to become acquainted, first hand, with the experiences of the three sectors in the area of local cooperation. Meetings were held with representatives of local governments, non-governmental organizations, local newspapers as well as state institutions and businesses.

A summation of the program was held in Kaliningrad in the form of a seminar. The Polish experiences provided the program participants a basis to formulate new ideas and local projects as well as an opportunity to obtain Polish partners in the realization of their plans.
